New day. Dong Hoi to Hanoi

13 October 2016
Got up early so I could get to the airport in Dong Hoi and get the seat I wanted. Window on the left side, hoping to get a glimpse of the northern Vietnam mountains and Thud Ridge and Phuc Yen on the way. Hanoi is actually spelled Ha Noi. I did not know that.
At the ticket counter I checked my bag and saw the agent put a tag on it that said SGN. Wrong (that's Saigon). I tried to explain and once she realized it she ran away! She finally came back with the right tags that said HAN. I think she ran off to fix the bags she already mis-tagged. I'm glad I paid attention or I'd be trying to find underwear that fits me tonight in Hanoi.

I made a friend on the plane. Min Yang sat in front of me and wanted to talk. She's 8 years old and speaks great English. She lives in Hanoi and likes flying. Her brother was also talking to me between the seats.
Min asked a bunch of questions: What do you like? What do you not like? (She meant to eat). She likes strawberries. She offered me her corn chips and then her Cheerios. Then she showed me her Disney book and asked if I wanted to read it. Her brother asked 'how big is your family? I showed him a picture of most of us but said I had a lot of uncles and aunts too. I wondered if he thought they all live with me. He asked where my wife was. I said I'm divorced and don't have one anymore. He disappeared for a few minutes then turned and said solemnly 'I'm very very sorry.' Cute. That went on the whole flight. Their mom had a baby in her lap.

The map shows the two cities
