15 hours to Hong Kong

Ahhh....Business class with the lay-flat seats.

Leaving the States

It's good to see a ramp full of United iron at SFO. That's my horse in the middle.

And so the trip begins...

2 Feb 2016:

About 25 hours of travel time to get to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC, formerly Saigon).
I plan to travel from there throughout the country, heading North.
After looking at the Lonely Planet guidebook, I think there's a lot to do and see, but I mostly want to see.
Everything is very inexpensive. The hotel in SGN is only $34 USD per night. Everything else is commensurately inexpensive also, according to basic research.
Why? I decided to go here because, well, I just retired from the military and I wanted an adventure that had some historical significance to me. I hope it works out that way.
